Japanese Invasion Money (JIM) officially known as southern development Banknotes was currency issued by Japanese Military authority as replacement for local currency after conquest of colonies in WW2. these Banknotes were valued same as the japanese YEN. after Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour, The Netherland declared war against Japan. within three months in 1942 The Dutch East Indies (currently Indonesia) were taken by Japanese army. on march 8, 1942 The Royal Netherland Army surendered and Dutch East Indies under Japanese administration. in 1944 under authority of DAI NIPPON TEIKOKU SEIHU (the imperial japanese goverment) this second design notes was issued with Indonesian text, and all the notes featured rural or Indonesian cultural motifs. Letter Plate "S" (shonan) is the Japanese name for Indonesia meaning The Great Eastern Territories
