In this auction, we are offering an Art Nouveau Souvenir from a turn-of-the-century visit to the city of Puigcerdà, Catalonia, Spain.
This Antique Souvenir is a Miniature Photo Album inside a tiny Silverplate Art Nouveau Purse!
This miniature purse is ornately decorated on both Front & Back in typical Art Nouveau style designs, garlands and flowers.
When opened are revealed 8 tiny black and white vintage photographs of sites to visit in the city of Puigcerdà. These vintage photos pull out of the locket accordion-style.

The metal is a warm silver color with a beautiful patina which has not been cleaned.

Measuring approximately 1 ” X ¾ ”, this beautiful Locket dates to the early 1900s and is in excellent vintage condition.
Situated on a terrace overlooking the Segre, Puigcerda is one of the main tourist resorts in the Pyrenees.
Its streets, lined with old buildings and traditional boutiques, have a certain old-world feel about them.
A market is held on Sundays on Plaça Cabrinety, where the people of the town meet to buy vegetables, in particular cabbages, chicory and endives, the high quality of which is due to the low levels of limestone in the water.
Puigcerda is a holiday resort that still preserves such interesting monuments as:
The Torre del Moro, a bell tower standing in the Plaza de Santa Maria and sole remaining vestige of the church destroyed in the Spanish Civil War;
The old convent of Sant Domenech;
The Calle Mayor or main street, and
The Plaza Mayor or main square, where the Renaissance houses of the Descatllars and the Cadells can be found.
Anyone visiting the town should not fail to walk to the lake, which is ringed by elegant mansions, or stroll through the Old Town and pause at the vantage point on the main square, where one of the most beautiful panoramas of the valley may be viewed.
Bourg-Madame lies right on the French border with Spain and directly onto the Spanish town of Puigcerdà.
