1862 2d blue imperforate on large star watermark paper cancelled using the scarce Maori Wars Drury cancel.
Four large margins on all sides, excellent colour and superb strike of the Drury CDS. 6mm cut extending from the left hand side of the stamp (at first R of Drury) down towards the Queens neck. Straight edges indicate a cut NOT a tear. Does not detract from this superb stamp and could be easily repaired.
Drury - Information
Drury is only a few miles from Pokeno where the Field Headquarters and Strongpoint was sited. Although the Post Office at Drury was a civilian one it was frequented by troops and handled many soldiers’ letters.
