Headquarters - Information
With the outbreak of the Second Taranaki War in May 1863 regiments of militia men were established to fight alongside the regular soldiers. A large camp, which served as the Headquarters, was established at Otahuhu. A post office was opened on 18 March 1864 and a special obliterator issued.
