This auction is for a lovely quality 25 Jewel automatic time piece from a serious London jewelry retailer - although the usual google searches produce little in the way of information on the company, they are a brand I have come across regularly over the years – I believe they have been producing watches since around the WW1 period at least.
The Dial – is singed for ‘Winegartens London 25 jewel Automatic’ and ‘Swiss Made.’ It shows lovely jet black fils hands and a calendar function at the three position.
The casing is marked for ‘Plague G20 R’ gold plate.
Please note the watch is elegantly slim at only 4mms in its thinnest place.
Measurements
35mms across not including the crown 33mms top to bottom not including the lugs 4mms deep!
Movement
The movement is a caliber AS 1700/01 which I know to have been used by GLYCINE and RADO. It is signed for ‘Winegartens London EC2 25 Jewels Swiss Made.’ It currently starts and stops as it wants to – when it feels like it – or not. It does wind beautifully however! The investigation is well beyond my skill grade so this is sold as it is – in need of attention. Please bear this in mind – as a restoration item, returns are not accepted.
The back of the watch says –‘Swiss Made Antimagnetic Waterproof Incabloc Stainless Steel Back’ and shows the serial number 11037.
