WESTON MASTER 'I' EXPOSURE METER model S74/715. with Tan Leather Case
For most of the period from the early 1930s to the late 1980s the various series of WESTON MASTER exposure meters were the accepted standard for use by professional and keen amateur photographers. This model the WESTON MASTER'V' was the first in the series of WESTON MASTERS after the initial WESTON meters which preceeded them and were boxier and bulkier and rather heavy.
This specimen is in excellent working order and the readings given correspond pretty accurately with exposure values I read in the viewfinder of my NIKON F-801 and D90 SLRs. I have not used this meter myself as it was originally part of my Father's collection which I inherited.
The meter itself is in almost unmarked and unscratched condition, apart from a small smear on the inside of the meter glass which does not interfere with operation, and on the back where the metal type panel has lost some of its black painted finish and lettering. In addition the two holes for the back security screws have been re-sealed with a brown compound instead of the original black wax. this probably indicates a service at some time.. The tan-leather case is in particularly good condition for it's age as the yellow stitching is in good sound condition and apart from normal handling wear the case itself is undamaged (apart from the top of the press-stud fastener which is missing, the fastener still works OK. Even the 'Shoe-lace' lanyard is complete and undamaged and has not even been knotted.
